Comment

I have got through this week, but in fact only have a little time still free next week.

Long term

No immediate plans.

I would like to make the options for getting in touch with me as clear as possible:
During winter in the northern hemisphere the time difference between the UK and Sydney is 11 hours; in the northern summer, the difference falls to just 9 hours.
I have no objection to being rung up until 11 p.m., although, of course, I cannot guarantee with complete certainty that I will actually be available.
From my point of view it is therefore entirely okay if you try to ring me
    in winter until about midday
in summer until about 2 p.m.
In addition to this, I normally have a look through my e-mails once relatively late in the evening, as a rule between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. This habit has the effect that any inquiries made earlier than 11 a.m. in winter - or 1 p.m. in summer - will usually be answered within a few hours.
An indication of my availability, updated daily, will continue to be found above on this page.

I have been in this business full-time now since late 1996, so those of you who are familiar with the trade will not be surprised to know that I am, as a rule, fairly busy. A freelance translator, of course, works in quite a different way from an agency - I never, as a matter of professional principle, farm work out. This means that my order book is in constant flux, and the capacity I may have over the coming few days can easily change from hour to hour. All this year, however, I have been keeping reasonably up-to-date information available here on this page, along with notes on periods when I am not available at all, for one reason or another. I usually update this page towards the end of my working day (which is towards or before the start of the same working day in Europe). The present state of daylight saving makes us 10 hours ahead of Germany, 11 hours ahead of the UK. Oh, if you get confused about times (like I do), you could do worse than look at this world clock!
